Automation & Incident Rules

Automate your incident response by defining rules that trigger actions based on monitor health.

1. Understanding Rule Actions

Rule Actions define what happens when a monitor fails or recovers. This can include:

  • Sending a notification to Slack or Microsoft Teams.
  • Triggering an Email alert to administrators.
  • Creating an Automatic Incident on your status page.

2. Setting Up an Auto Incident

You can configure Incipulse to automatically create an incident when a service goes down.

  1. Navigate to Monitoring > Uptime.
  2. Select a monitor and click Rules & Actions.
  3. Enable the "Create Incident on Failure" toggle.
  4. Define the conditions:
    • Threshold: Number of consecutive failures before triggering (e.g., 3 failures).
    • Severity: Choose the incident status (Investigating, Major Outage).
  5. (Optional) Enable "Auto-Resolve" to close the incident automatically when the service recovers.

3. Alerts & Notifications

For detailed instructions on setting up notifications, please refer to the specific guides:

  • Alert Actions: How to manage notification groups and delivery methods.
  • Alert Rules: How to configure triggering conditions and thresholds.

4. Deleting or Updating Rules

  1. Open the specific monitor's rule settings.
  2. Adjust the threshold or change the assigned action group.
  3. Click Delete Rule to remove automation for that monitor.
