Automation & Incident Rules
Automate your incident response by defining rules that trigger actions based on monitor health.
1. Understanding Rule Actions
Rule Actions define what happens when a monitor fails or recovers. This can include:
- Sending a notification to Slack or Microsoft Teams.
- Triggering an Email alert to administrators.
- Creating an Automatic Incident on your status page.
2. Setting Up an Auto Incident
You can configure Incipulse to automatically create an incident when a service goes down.
- Navigate to Monitoring > Uptime.
- Select a monitor and click Rules & Actions.
- Enable the "Create Incident on Failure" toggle.
- Define the conditions:
- Threshold: Number of consecutive failures before triggering (e.g., 3 failures).
- Severity: Choose the incident status (Investigating, Major Outage).
- (Optional) Enable "Auto-Resolve" to close the incident automatically when the service recovers.
3. Alerts & Notifications
For detailed instructions on setting up notifications, please refer to the specific guides:
- Alert Actions: How to manage notification groups and delivery methods.
- Alert Rules: How to configure triggering conditions and thresholds.
4. Deleting or Updating Rules
- Open the specific monitor's rule settings.
- Adjust the threshold or change the assigned action group.
- Click Delete Rule to remove automation for that monitor.
